Book a taxi in New York City without guessing the fare
Getting around New York is easy right up until it isn't. You need a cab in the Bronx at 6am, or a car to JFK during a Friday rush hour, or a vehicle big enough for four people and their luggage — and suddenly the yellow cab you were counting on is nowhere. That is the gap we fill.
We run a licensed taxi and car service across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, 24 hours a day. Street-hail cabs work well in Midtown. Everywhere else, and for anything time-critical, booking ahead is the difference between making your flight and watching it leave.
What it actually costs
New York gives you two pricing models, and it helps to know which one you are buying.
A metered taxi is set by the Taxi & Limousine Commission and is identical in every yellow cab. It starts at $3.00 and adds $0.70 for each fifth of a mile, or each 60 seconds you spend stationary. Then come the additions: $1.00 MTA surcharge, $0.50 improvement surcharge, and $2.50 congestion surcharge on most trips touching Manhattan south of 96th Street. Weekday afternoons between 4pm and 8pm add $2.50; overnight between 8pm and 6am adds $1.00. Tolls are passed through at cost. Traffic costs you money, because the meter runs while you sit still.
A pre-booked car service works the other way round. We quote a total when you book, based on the route rather than the clock. If the BQE turns into a car park, that is our problem, not your bill. Use the estimate your fare before you book to sanity-check either number before you commit.

Tipping is customary rather than compulsory. Most New Yorkers add 15–20%, and the card terminal in a yellow cab will suggest exactly that. Drivers keep the tip in full.

Outside Midtown, the street is unreliable
Yellow cabs concentrate below 96th Street and around the transport hubs. Stand on a corner in Throgs Neck, Bay Ridge or Tottenville and you can wait a long time for one to pass. Green boro taxis help in the outer boroughs but are thinner on the ground at night. A booked car turns up where and when you asked.
Luggage and groups change the maths
A standard sedan takes four passengers and about two large cases. Past that you need a minivan or SUV, and you will not find one by waving at traffic. Tell us the passenger count and bag count and we send a vehicle that fits the first time.
Early flights leave no room for error
A 6am departure means a 3:30am pickup, which is precisely when street hails are scarcest. Book the night before and the car is outside, engine running, at the time you set.
The price is settled before you travel

Child seats
New York law exempts taxis and for-hire vehicles from the child restraint requirement, but exempt is not the same as safe. We can fit a forward-facing seat or booster if you ask when booking. Say the child's age and weight and we will match the right one.
Bridges, tunnels and tolls
Route choice moves the price. The Queens-Midtown Tunnel is quicker than the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge at rush hour but carries a toll; the Brooklyn Bridge is free but slower. Drivers take the fastest sensible route by default — tell us if you would rather avoid tolls and we will price it that way.

How much does a taxi cost in NYC?
A metered yellow cab starts at $3.00, then charges $0.70 per fifth of a mile or per 60 seconds stopped. On top of that you pay a $1.00 MTA state surcharge, a $0.50 improvement surcharge, and a $2.50 congestion surcharge on most trips that touch Manhattan below 96th Street. Between 4pm and 8pm on weekdays there is a $2.50 peak surcharge, and $1.00 overnight from 8pm to 6am. Tolls are added at cost. A pre-booked car service quotes one total up front instead, so you know the number before you get in.
Do you charge more during rush hour or surge periods?
No. We quote a fixed price when you book and that is what you pay, whatever the traffic does. Metered taxis add peak and overnight surcharges, and app-based rideshare multiplies fares during demand spikes. A pre-booked rate does neither.
Can I book a ride in advance?
Yes, and for airport runs we recommend it. Book at least two hours ahead for a city trip and the night before for an early flight. Send the request through the form on this page or call (888) 652-7136 — we take bookings 24 hours a day.
Which airports do you cover?
All three: JFK, LaGuardia (LGA) and Newark Liberty (EWR). We track your flight number, so if you land early or late the driver adjusts. Pickups are curbside by default, and meet-and-greet inside the terminal is available on request.
How do I pay?
Card or cash. Every licensed vehicle in New York City must accept credit and debit cards, and ours do. For pre-booked trips you can settle with the driver or arrange payment when you confirm the booking.
Do you have wheelchair accessible vehicles?
Yes. We operate ramp-equipped wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs) that take a passenger seated in their own chair, plus companions. Book these ahead where you can — the accessible fleet across the city is smaller than the standard one, so advance notice makes a real difference.
