Terms of service
The conditions you are agreeing to when you book. Written to be read rather than skimmed past.
Last updated: 2026. These terms apply to bookings made with {{TODO_LEGAL_NAME}}, trading as TaxiService.nyc, and to use of the website taxiservice.nyc.
1. Who we are
{{TODO_LEGAL_NAME}}, operating as TaxiService.nyc, a for-hire transportation provider licensed by the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission under licence {{TODO_TLC_LICENSE}}.
In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that company. "You" means the person making the booking.
2. Making a booking
A booking exists once we have confirmed it — by phone, WhatsApp or email. Submitting the form on this website does not by itself create a booking; it opens a WhatsApp message for you to send. Until we confirm, nothing is reserved.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you give us. A wrong address, a wrong time or a wrong flight number will produce a wrong pickup, and we cannot be responsible for the consequences of information we were given incorrectly.
3. Pricing
Pre-booked trips are quoted as a fixed price before you travel. That quote includes tolls and the driver's gratuity unless we say otherwise at the time. It does not change because of traffic, weather or demand. There is no surge pricing.
A quote can change only if the booking itself changes — a different address, extra stops, a different vehicle, a materially different time. We will tell you before anything is charged differently.
Metered trips are charged at the rates set by the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission. Those rates are identical across every licensed yellow and green cab in the city and we cannot vary them. Surcharges, tolls and tips apply as the Commission prescribes.
Waiting time beyond the included allowance is charged in the increments quoted at booking. Included as standard: 15 minutes on a city pickup, 60 minutes on an airport pickup measured from actual landing time.
4. Payment
Card or cash. Payment is due at the end of the trip unless arranged otherwise. Account customers are invoiced on agreed terms.
Where a booking is paid in advance and we cannot provide the service, you get a full refund.
5. Cancellations and changes
By you. Cancel or change a standard city booking with at least two hours' notice and there is no charge. Airport bookings need longer, because a vehicle is held against your flight. Limousine, event, wedding and multi-day bookings carry their own cancellation terms, which we set out when you book.
Cancelling with less notice, or a no-show at the pickup point, may incur a charge up to the full quoted fare. We apply this sparingly and not at all where the reason was genuinely outside your control.
By us. We may cancel where conditions make the trip unsafe, where a vehicle becomes unavailable and cannot be substituted, or where the booking turns out to breach these terms. We will tell you as early as we can and refund anything paid in advance. Where there is time, we will try to arrange an alternative.
6. Waiting, delays and no-shows
Airport pickups. Give us the flight number and we track the arrival. Sixty minutes of waiting from actual landing is included. Do not give us a flight number and we work from the time you specified, which means a delay is not something we can absorb.
City pickups. Fifteen minutes of waiting is included from the agreed time.
If you are not at the pickup point and we cannot reach you on the number you gave, the driver may leave after the included waiting period and the booking may be charged as a no-show.
Our delays. We plan generous margins, particularly on airport departures, but traffic, weather, road closures and incidents are outside anyone's control. We are not liable for missed flights, trains or appointments caused by conditions of that kind. Where a delay is our fault — a driver who does not arrive, a vehicle that does not turn up — we will refund or make it right.
7. Vehicles and capacity
We send a vehicle matched to the passenger and luggage count you gave us. Turn up with more people or more luggage than booked and the vehicle may not be able to carry them safely or legally. In that case we will try to arrange a larger vehicle at the applicable rate, but we cannot promise one at short notice.
Seat belts must be worn where fitted. The driver has final say on whether a load can be carried safely.
Child seats are available free of charge with advance notice. New York exempts taxis and for-hire vehicles from the child restraint requirement, but where a seat has been fitted at your request it must be used correctly.
Accessible vehicles carry a wheelchair user in their own chair, secured with a four-point tie-down and a separate occupant restraint. Tell us the chair's make and dimensions in advance so we can confirm it fits. Our drivers secure the chair; they cannot provide personal care or transfer assistance.
8. Conduct
We ask for the ordinary things: no smoking or vaping in the vehicle, no illegal substances, and no behaviour that puts the driver or other passengers at risk.
A driver may end a trip where a passenger is abusive, threatening or unsafe. In that case the fare remains payable.
Damage. Where a passenger damages or soils a vehicle so that it must be cleaned or repaired before returning to service, we may charge the reasonable cost of doing so, evidenced on request.
Alcohol. Passengers aged 21 and over may consume alcohol in a licensed limousine. Every passenger must be 21 or over for alcohol to be carried. Prom and school bookings are alcohol-free without exception and the driver enforces that.
9. Lost property
Tell us as soon as you notice. We will check the vehicle and hold anything found for a reasonable period, and we will arrange return — a delivery may carry a charge.
We are not liable for property left in a vehicle. For a metered taxi, the receipt carries the medallion number, which is what the TLC lost-property process needs.
10. Liability
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill, using licensed drivers and TLC-inspected, commercially insured vehicles.
We are liable for loss or damage we cause. We are not liable for consequential losses — missed flights, missed events, lost business — arising from delays caused by traffic, weather, road closures, incidents, or information given to us incorrectly.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
11. Complaints
Call (888) 652-7136 and ask for a supervisor, or email {{TODO_EMAIL}} with the booking details and date. We aim to respond within two business days.
You may also complain about any licensed New York vehicle or driver directly to the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission via 311. That route is open to you whether or not you come to us first.
12. Website use
This site is provided as it is. Fares shown anywhere on it, including the fare calculator, are estimates and not quotes. Metered rates are set by the TLC and change when the Commission changes them; pre-booked prices are confirmed only when we confirm a booking.
We try to keep the site accurate and do not warrant that it is error-free or continuously available. Content on it is ours and may not be reproduced commercially without permission.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones in force when the booking was confirmed.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and the courts of New York have exclusive jurisdiction.

Placeholder values above are business details we have not verified and have chosen not to invent. These terms are a good-faith starting point drafted for a NYC for-hire operator, not legal advice. Have a qualified New York lawyer review them before you rely on them — particularly sections 5, 6 and 10.
